Rory
Mae
Rory’s namesake comes from the character of Rory Gilmore from the “Gilmore Girls” TV series. Like the original Rory, she is spirited, determined, and has an attention for detail. She notices everything and is always thinking. She is a born nurturer. Even before she became an official mama, she showed her aptitude for it by “adopting” an abandoned kitten we found and letting it attempt to nurse! Now that she has had her own litters of puppies, we can truly see that this was a role she was meant for. Rory particularly loves the water and is happiest when getting to swim in the creek.
Mae’s name comes from our farm’s history and family. She is named for the previous generation that called the farm home. Whether it’s in her interactions with baby chicks, her walk, or how she rests her head on your lap, everyone can clearly see that Mae’s most defining characteristic is her gentleness. Mae has a very petite build and is happy to let others take the lead. She is a wonderful companion dog and is happiest when just laying by your feet. Mae’s calming presence puts everyone in the room at ease. She is very intuitive and has the personality that would make a great therapy dog.
Shep
Shep is named for the original “great farm dog” of Rodney’s childhood that inspired our search that lead us to Old-Time Scotch Collies. He is Rodney’s right hand man and shadows him as he works on the farm. Shep has the build that is ideal for agility competitions. Both his parents and siblings have excelled in this area. Shep is always eager to please and works hard at any task given to him. He takes his job of patrolling the farm seriously and will only “alert” when it is warranted. He is always willing to romp and play, but never misses a chance to be affectionate. Shep is good natured dog that brings balance to farm.
