About Old-Time Scotch Collies
Old-Time Scotch Collies (OTSC), sometimes known as farm collies, were originally a broad group of working dogs bread for practicality and companionship. Though they often lived in the family setting, these dogs were known for their ability to understand the needs of the farm. As time passed, several herding dog breads came out of this traditional Farm Shepherd, such as the Rough Collie (mostly bred for show). Old-Time Scotch Collies are now being revived as a breed of dog who traits are not being selected for show standards, but instead being breed with the intention of creating intuitive working farm shepherds with a high desire to please, genetic and structural soundness, gentleness with grit when necessary, and the ability to “relax” and enjoy family companionship.
