MAPLEWOOD’S FIRST SCOTCH COLLIE LITTER

PRESIDENT’S DAY 2021

As everyone was running to the grocery store to buy milk and bread, Rory found a warm place inside and decided that the middle of a rare Kentucky snowstorm was the perfect time to have her first litter of Old-Time Scotch Collie puppies!

School was out, but our farm family was scattered and there was only one person there at the farm as the snow was starting to pile up over a layer of ice! Around lunch, our family had just texted about how you could feel the pups moving and kicking in Rory’s belly and joking about “what if” she delivered now. Then the next text that came though was….”I think they care coming now!”

Our first efforts for other members of the farm family to get to the farm and help had to be abandon because the road conditions were too poor. We waited patiently for pictures and updates as the first three puppies were born (all tri-color). There was a brief reprieve in the weather, and backup for our lone Scotch Collie midwife was able to arrive!

By 3:00, we had welcomed all 10 members of the “Presidential Litter” while 4 feet of snow was falling! If you are interested in purchasing an Old-Time Scotch Collie puppy, please contact us. We have a mix of sable, shaded sable, and tri-color pups.
